Farah Shahin farahshahin@gmail.comMy name is Farah Shahin and I was one of the participants in the three-week LINC exchange program in the United States of America. It has been one of the most rewarding and challenging experiences of all my life. It all started on the 2nd of April of this year When we arrived NYC. We were welcomed by wonderful American host Families who treated us as their own children, their brothers and sisters. They all tried as much as possible to make us feel home away from home. We would go to school with them and do all the activities they are used to do normally. At school we met new friends and had new teachers. Everybody was so welcoming that we felt so comfortable. Everything was new so it took us some time to adjust at first but after a while we felt like we don’t want to leave! All of this is only one part of it. We benefited a lot from the training we had at the MOUSE Squad, technical and mechanical. This gave us the opportunity to be able to help other students here in Jordan and give them some of what we learned. Through all of this, we met more people and made new friends and I think that was priceless. I will never forget the fun parts of those three weeks. Our schedule was not only filled with educating activities but also group outings, dinners and tours in NYC. We visited Manhattan several times, Times square, Wall street, China town and even watched a baseball game. I think this trip was one of the best trips ever and I know I'll keep all of its memories, good and bad, locked up in my mind. I owe this for all the wonderful people who fully cooperated with us to make this happen and gave us this chance to discover a new and different part of the world. My regards to all, Farah Shahin iEARN Jordan LINC Team |
